Gum is removed by directing a steam jet (11) at an individual piece of gum (2) at a pressure sufficient to penetrate the gum. The steam temperature is sufficient to cause disintegration of the gum by the moistening effect of the steam. The gum disintegrates into particles (15) which can easily be swept up or removed by suction afterwards.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant d'éliminer les chewing-gums. Ce procédé consiste à diriger un jet de vapeur (11) sur chaque morceau (2) de chewing-gum, ceci à une pression suffisante pour que la vapeur y pénètre. La vapeur possède une température suffisante pour désagréger le chewing-gum par effet d'humidification. Le chewing-gum se désagrège en particules (15) qui peuvent être facilement balayées ou aspirées par la suite.
