A coating composition for ink-jet recording media which comprises colloidal silica and a synthetic resin emulsion which is obtained by emulsion- polymerizing (A) a radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a silyl group with (B) other radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer(s) copolymerizable therewith in the presence of a radical-polymerizable surfactant and which has two or more different glass transition points (Tg); and an ink-jet recording medium obtained by coating with the coating composition. The medium is effective in obtaining a further improvement in gloss, improvement in weatherability, and sufficient conformability to stress changes caused by bending, while maintaining that rapid ink penetration into the ink-receiving layer which is inherent in a cast coating layer.
L'invention concerne une composition de revêtement pour supports d'impression à jet d'encre contenant de la silice colloïdale ainsi qu'une émulsion de résine synthétique obtenue par polymérisation en émulsion (A) d'un monomère insaturé à polymérisation radicalaire ayant un groupe silyle avec (B) un autre monomère/d'autres monomères insaturé(s) à polymérisation radicalaire copolymérisable(s) avec celui-ci, en la présence d'un tensioactif à polymérisation radicalaire, et présentant au moins deux points de transition vitreuse différents (Tg); et un support d'impression à jet d'encre obtenu par revêtement avec la composition de revêtement. Le support permet d'obtenir efficacement une autre amélioration du brillant, une amélioration du point de vue de la résistance aux intempéries, et une résistance suffisante aux changements de contraintes engendrées par le pliage, tout en gardant cette pénétration rapide de l'encre dans la couche de réception d'encre inhérente à une couche de couchage au glacis.
