The invention provides a combined heat and power plant with an integrated gas production system. The combined heat and power plant contains a steam reformer heated with a gas burner which converts a mixture of hydrocarbons and water vapour into a reformate gas stream containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The plant further contains a reactor system with several stages for removing carbon monoxide from the reformate gas stream. The plant also contains a heat exchanger for removing heat energy from the reformate gas stream and a fuel cell unit for producing electrical energy by catalytic reaction of the hydrogen contained in the reformate gas with oxygen in the fuel cell, wherein the reformate gas stream is supplied to the anode in the fuel cell unit and the anode waste gas is taken to the gas burner of the steam reformer as fuel, via a gas pipe. The reactor system for removing carbon monoxide from the reformate gas stream contains, according to one embodiment of the invention, a low temperature shift reactor and a downstream methanisation reactor and the heat exchanger for cooling the reformate gas stream leaving the steam reformer to the inlet temperature of the low temperature shift reactor is located in the reformate gas stream between the steam reformer and the low temperature shift reactor. This combined heat and power plant is operated according to the invention in such a way that the reformate gas contains 5 to 10 vol.% of unreformed hydrocarbon which enables the flame in the gas burner to be monitored using an ionisation detector when burning the anode waste gas in the gas burner of the steam reformer.
L'invention concerne une centrale de production de chaleur et d'électricité combinée dotée d'un système de production de gaz intégré. La centrale de production de chaleur et d'électricité combinée contient un reformeur à vapeur chauffé avec un brûleur à gaz qui transforme un mélange d'hydrocarbures et de vapeur d'eau en un flux gazeux reformat contenant de l'hydrogène et du monoxyde de carbone. La centrale comprend également un système de réacteur pourvu de plusieurs étages destiné à évacuer le monoxyde de carbone du flux gazeux reformat. La centrale comporte également un échangeur de chaleur conçu pour évacuer l'énergie thermique du flux gazeux reformat, et une pile à combustible, qui produit de l'énergie électrique par réaction catalytique de l'hydrogène contenu dans le gaz de reformat avec l'oxygène de la pile à combustible, le flux de gaz reformat étant acheminé à l'anode de la pile à combustible et le gaz d'échappement de l'anode vers le brûleur à gaz du reformeur à vapeur en tant que combustible, via une conduite de gaz. Le système à réacteur permettant d'évacuer le monoxyde de carbone du flux gazeux reformat comprend, selon une partie de l'invention, un convertisseur basse température et un réacteur de méthanisation aval. L'échangeur de chaleur conçu pour refroidir le flux gazeux reformat qui sort du reformeur à vapeur à la température d'entrée du convertisseur basse température est situé dans le flux gazeux reformat, entre le reformeur à vapeur et le convertisseur basse température. Cette centrale de production de chaleur et d'électricité combinée est exploitée conformément à l'invention de sorte que le gaz reformat contienne 5 à 10 % en vol. d'hydrocarbure non reformé qui permet à la flamme du brûleur à gaz d'être surveillée au moyen d'un détecteur à ionisation lorsqu'elle brûle le gaz d'échappement de l'anode dans le brûleur à gaz du reformeur à vapeur.
