A composition for use in reducing noise and/or fouling in a liquid cooling system of an engine, e.g. an automotive engine, comprising an organo-polymeric microfibril material insoluble in the cooling liquid of the liquid cooling system, the microfibrils having an aspect ratio (length to diameter) in the range 10 to 5000. Preferably the microfibril material is contained in a carrier, which may be in the form of a liquid, a gel or a compressed tablet soluble or dipersible in the cooling liquid.

L'invention concerne une composition destinée à s'utiliser pour réduire le bruit et/ou l'encrassement dans un système de refroidissement à liquide d'un moteur, par exemple un moteur automobile; la composition comprend une matière en microfibrille organopolymérique insoluble dans le liquide de refroidissement du système de refroidissement à liquide, les microfibrilles possédant un rapport longueur/diamètre compris dans la gamme de 10 à 5000. De préférence, la matière en microfibrille est contenue dans un support qui peut être sous forme de liquide, de gel ou d'une tablette comprimée soluble ou pouvant se disperser dans le liquide de refroidissement.
