The invention relates to devices (20) that are stabilized at an intraluminal residence site in the gastrointestinal tract by their conformation, including dimensions of length and curvature. The device as a whole corresponds to the conformation of the residence site; more particularly, the curved or angled portions correspond to the curved or angled portions of the residence site and do not conform to an immediately proximal or distal site. In some embodiments, the conformationally stabilized device may effect a change in the residence site shape that contributes to stability of the device. Some embodiments are directed toward curbing appetite and/or reducing food intake, other embodiments may be directed toward other therapeutic ends. Some embodiments of the device are designed to reside wholly in the duodenum; others reside principally within the duodenum but extend proximally into the gastric antrum, while other embodiments are designed to reside elsewhere within the gastrointestinal tract.
L'invention concerne des dispositifs (20) qui sont stabilisés au niveau d'un site de résidence intraluminale dans le tractus gastro-intestinal par leur conformation, y compris des dimensions de longueur et de courbure. Le dispositif dans son ensemble correspond à la conformation du site de résidence; plus particulièrement, les parties courbées ou coudées correspondent aux parties courbées ou coudées du site de résidence et ne se conforment pas à un site immédiatement proximal ou distal. Dans certains modes de réalisation, le dispositif à conformation stabilisé peut effectuer un changement dans la forme de site de résidence qui contribue à la stabilité du dispositif. Certains modes de réalisation concernent le fait de réfréner l'appétit et/ou de réduire l'ingestion alimentaire, d'autres modes de réalisation peuvent concerner d'autres buts thérapeutiques. Certains modes de réalisation du dispositif sont conçus pour résider entièrement dans le duodénum; d'autres résident principalement dans le duodénum mais s'étendent de manière proximale dans l'antre gastrique, tandis que d'autres modes de réalisation sont conçus pour résider ailleurs dans le tractus gastro-intestinal.
