A connector (5) is provided for connecting a first panel (6) to a second panel (7) with the first panel having one edge (8) thereof fixed relative to a surface (9) of the second panel and the two panels extending transversely to each other. The connector comprises an anchor unit for cooperation with an aperture (18) through the first panel inwardly of said one edge thereof and nut means (20, 34) that are captive relative to the anchor unit for receiving a fastener (19) passing through the second panel for urging the anchor unit towards the second panel to thereby connect the first and second panels together. The anchor unit comprises a first component (10) and a second component (11 ) each of which has a generally platelike base (12) having an operatively outer surface (13), an inner surface (14) from which one or more attachment lugs (one being, and 16) extend, and a peripheral edge. The attachment lugs are configured to retain the anchor unit in the assembled condition of the connector by cooperation with the nut means or the fastener, or both. The peripheral edge of the base, in each case, is shaped so that the base covers and obscures the aperture.

La pièce d'assemblage comprend une unité d'ancrage coopérant avec une ouverture (18) à travers le premier panneau à l'intérieur du bord et un dispositif d'écrou (20, 34) bloqué par rapport à l'unité d'ancrage servant à recevoir une attache (19) traversant le second panneau de manière à contraindre l'unité d'ancrage vers le second panneau pour rattacher ensemble les premier et second panneaux. Ladite unité d'ancrage comprend un premier composant (10) et un second composant (11) qui ont respectivement une base généralement en forme de plaque (12) possédant une surface externe fonctionnelle (13), une surface interne (14) depuis laquelle au moins un tenon de fixation (16) s'étend, et un bord périphérique. Ces tenons de fixation sont conçus pour retenir l'unité d'ancrage à l'état assemblé de la pièce d'assemblage, pour ce faire ils coopèrent avec le dispositif d'écrou ou l'attache ou les deux à la fois. Le bord périphérique de la base est formé dans chaque cas de manière que la base recouvre et obture l'ouverture.
