A cover is provided to protect an implement, such as a toothbrush. The cover includes a container having a resilient portion and an interior space to receive and releasably retain at least a portion of the implement. An expandable opening is formed within the resilient portion. The opening is in communication with the interior space. The opening expands in response to an external force so that at least a portion of the implement can be inserted. After the implement is inserted, the external force may be released so that the opening may contract. An externally operated control member associated with the container is provided to selectively control the expansion and contraction of the opening.
