A device and method suitable for the cryopreservation of all types of biological cells is described. In this method, an ultra-fast cooling/warming device system is used to achieve vitrification of individual cells or cell suspensions without cryoprotectant agents (CPA) or with a low concentration of CPAs (<1M), to attenuate the formation of intracellular ice crystal formation during cooling, and to minimize devitrification during subsequent warming. The device system applies oscillating heat pipe (OHP) and nanofluid techniques, and is built through microfabrication. Several devices may be networked to increase the total volume of cell samples that the cryopreservation system can process simultaneously.

L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé appropriés pour la cryoconservation de tous les types de cellules biologiques. Conformément au procédé, un système comportant un dispositif de refroidissement/chauffage ultrarapide est utilisé en vue d'effectuer une vitrification des cellules individuelles ou des suspensions de cellules, sans agents cryoprotecteurs (CPA), ou en faible concentration de CPA (<1M), en vue d'atténuer la formation de cristaux de glace intracellulaires durant le refroidissement, et de minimiser la dévitrification pendant le réchauffement subséquent. Le système à dispositif précité applique des techniques de tube calorique oscillant (OHP) et de nanofluide, et est réalisé par microfabrication. Plusieurs dispositifs peuvent être assemblés en réseau, en vue d'accroître le volume total d'échantillons cellulaires que le système de cryoconservation puisse traiter simultanément.
