A data carrier with an optically variable structure is described having an embossed screen which is combined with a coating contrasting with the surface of the data carrier in such a way that different optically variable effects occur at different angles. Embossed screen and/or coating are executed in such a way that especially striking or additional effects occur which are suitable for determining the authenticity of the data carrier but cannot be reproduced, or reproduced true to the original, with the help of copying machines.

L'invention concerne un support de données (1) portant une structure (3) optiquement variable. Ledit support (1) comporte une grille imprimée associée à un revêtement contrastant avec la surface du support de données (1) de façon à faire apparaître différents effets optiquement variables vus sous différents angles. La grille imprimée et/ou le revêtement sont réalisés de manière à faire apparaître des effets particulièrement marquants ou supplémentaires qui permettent de déterminer l'authenticité du support de données (1) mais qui ne sont pas reproductibles au moyen de photocopieuses de façon fidèle à l'original.
