The decanter centrifuge has a bowl with a screw conveyor having a body (4) and a screw (7). Material to be separated into a light phase and a heavy phase is supplied through inlet ports (6) in the body, and the heavy phase is discharged through discharge ports in the bowl at one end of the conveyor. Between the inlet ports and the discharge ports for the heavy phase, the body of the screw conveyor carries a baffle (8c), generally shaped as a radial rib which forms a helical surface turning in the same direction as the screw (7). Owing to its shape the baffle actively contributes to the transport of the heavy phase, and with retention of the same gap between the baffle and the inner surface of the bowl, the gap area can be increased by increasing the axial length of the baffle.
Décanteuse-centrifugeuse possédant un carter et un transporteur à vis composé d'un corps (4) et d'une vis (7). Les matières à séparer en une phase légère et une phase lourde sont introduites par des orifices d'entrée (6) prévus dans le corps, et la phase lourde est évacuée par des orifices d'évacuation prévus dans le carter à une extrémité du transporteur. Le corps du transporteur à vis comporte, entre les orifices d'entrée et les orifices d'évacuation de la phase lourde, une déflecteur (8c) se présentant sous la forme générale d'une nervure radiale formant une surface hélicoïdale tournant dans le même sens que la vis (7). Grâce à sa forme, ce déflecteur participe activement au transport de la phase lourde, et le maintien d'un espace constant entre le déflecteur et la face interne du carter permet d'augmenter la section de passage de cet écartement en augmentant la longueur axiale du déflecteur.
