The invention relates to a denture cleaning apparatus consisting essentially of: a) a container for holding cleaning fluid; b) a basket, for holding a denture, removably disposed within the container; and c) a cover for the container; characterised in that the container has a side wall comprising thermal insulation means selected from: i) a cavity wall; ii) a cellular foam wall; and iii) a thermally insulating jacket attached to and enclosing the container side wall. The invention further relates to a method of cleaning a denture comprising soaking the denture in an aqueous solution at a temperature of greater than 50 ~C, the solution comprising a cleaning agent and being contained within a denture cleaning apparatus having a Thermal Efficiency Indicator selected from a Heat Loss Value of less than 7.5 ~C and a Touch Temperature of less than 40 ~C. The apparatus and method of the invention provide for improved denture cleaning without discomfort to a user when handling the apparatus.
L'invention concerne un dispositif pour nettoyer les appareils dentaires comprenant essentiellement a) un récipient contenant un liquide de nettoyage; b) un panier pour appareil dentaire, placé de manière amovible à l'intérieur du récipient et c) un couvercle pour le récipient. Le dispositif est caractérisé en ce que le récipient présente une paroi latérale comprenant des moyens d'isolation thermique sélectionnée parmi i) une paroi creuse, ii) une paroi en caoutchouc cellulaire et iii) une enveloppe d'isolation thermique fixée à et renfermant la paroi latérale du récipient. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé de nettoyage d'un appareil dentaire consistant à tremper l'appareil dentaire dans une solution aqueuse à une température supérieure à 50 ·C, la solution comportant un produit de nettoyage et étant contenue dans un dispositif pour nettoyer les appareils dentaires présentant un indicateur d'efficacité thermique défini à partir d'une valeur de perte de chaleur inférieure à 7,5 ·C et une température de toucher inférieure à 40 ·C. Le dispositif et le procédé assurent un nettoyage amélioré d'appareils dentaires et une aisance de la manipulation du dispositif pour l'utilisateur.
