The overbased metal hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate detergent reduces asphaltene precipitation or 'black paint' in a marine diesel engine.

L'invention porte sur un détergent d'hydroxybenzoate métallique surbasé à substitution hydrocarbyle, le détergent ayant un indice de basicité de moins de 2 et un niveau de carbonatation de 80 % ou plus.
