A device for clamping the toothed strap (2) of a fastening for sports footwear comprises a base (3) and a stop ratchet mechanism including a pawl (12; 112) which is articulated to the base (3) and can engage the teeth of the strap (2) in order to stop it, and a second-order lever (7; 107) articulated to the base (3) and acting on the pawl (12; 112) to move it away from and towards a position of engagement with the teeth of the strap (2).
