A device for feeding tree trunks comprises a body structure (T) and support members (2) arranged on the body structure and supporting members (3) for feeding a tree trunk located between the feed members. The support members with associated feed members are moveable towards and away from each other by means of power members (4) to adjust the distance between the feed members located on either side of the tree trunk to the coarseness of the trunk. The device comprises members (5), which by abutment against the trunk locate the same so that longitudinal center lines of the trunk will obtain different positions generally transversely to the direction (R) of the relative mobility of the feed members towards and away from each other in dependence of the trunk coarseness. The device comprises means (24, 25) for displacing the feed members (3) supported by the support members (2) relative to the body structure (1) to maintain the feed members (3) in a position generally opposite to the thank independently of the varying location of the longitudinal center line of the trunk occurring due to coarseness variation.

Un dispositif pour introduire des troncs d'arbres comporte une structure de corps (1) et des éléments de support (2) agencés sur cette dernière ainsi que des éléments de support (3) pour introduire un tronc d'arbre situé entre les organes d'introduction. Les éléments de support avec les organes d'introduction associés se rapprochent et s'éloignent au moyen d'organes motorisés (4), en vue d'ajuster à la texture du tronc l'écartement entre les organes d'introduction situés de chaque côté de ce dernier. Le dispositif comprend des éléments (5) qui, par aboutement contre le tronc, positionnent ce dernier de sorte que les axes médians longitudinaux du tronc vont prendre différentes positions en général transversalement par rapport au sens (R) de la mobilité relative des organes d'introduction en direction et à l'opposé l'un de l'autre en fonction de la texture du tronc. Le dispositif comprend également des moyens (24, 25) pour déplacer les organes d'introduction (3) supportés par les éléments de support (2) par rapport à la structure de corps (1) afin de maintenir les organes d'introduction (3) dans une position en général opposée au tronc, indépendamment des variations de situation de l'axe médian longitudinal du tronc par suite des variations de texture.
