This invention is a device used to monitor the prime of chemical feed pumps for a variety of automated feed systems. This device is designed for, though not restricted to, use in chemical feed systems that automatically apply non-flammable chemicals to industrial systems such as boilers, cooling towers, or waster water treatment programs. A sensor is placed inline with the chemical feed tubing which delivers chemical to the requiring process. This sensor detects the presence of a water based liquid and provides a "green light" signal to system operators when chemical is present within the chemical feed tubing. When the prime is broken within the chemical feed pump, air enters the tubing. Chemical then is no longer being pumped through the chemical feed system and the aforementioned sensor detects an absence of water based liquid. A light and/or audible alarm signals the system operators indicating that the chemical feed system is failing to deliver chemical to the requiring operation and the chemical feed pumps require re- priming.
