The invention provides a novel illuminated display system wherein the system has at least one transparent sheet having two opposing surfaces, wherein at least one of these surfaces has a matrix of dots applied to its surface. It is preferred that both surfaces have the matrix of dots applied thereto. The display system is illuminated by a light source on the edge of the sign. The display system can be one-sided or double-sided.
