An apparatus and method for generating a drive force in a downhole environment includes chambers of a reactant and a catalyst, respectively, that are maintained separate until selectively exposed to one another. The reactant is preferably H202. Once exposed, the reactant and catalyst produce expanding fluid pressure and sometimes heat. The products of the reaction are directed to a drive member to carry out a desired operation in the downhole environment.

L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé permettant de produire une force d'entraînement dans un environnement de fond de trou. Ce dispositif comprend des chambres contenant respectivement un réactif et un catalyseur, qui sont maintenues séparées jusqu'à leur ouverture sélective permettant à leurs contenus d'entrer en contact. Une fois que les chambre sont ouvertes, le réactif et le catalyseur produisent une pression par dilatation de fluide, et occasionnellement de la chaleur. Les produits de cette réaction sont dirigés vers un organe d'entraînement de manière à permettre la réalisation d'une opération souhaitée dans l'environnement de fond de trou.
