A bundle assembly for vertical, gravity flow driven polymerization reactors for combinations of high viscosity, high throughput, and thin polymer films is provided. The bundle assembly includes static internal components that provide large areas of free liquid surfaces in contact with the atmosphere of the reactor while still attaining sufficient liquid holdup times for polymerization to take place. The bundle assembly includes one or more stationary film generators. The bundle assembly further includes one or more stationary arrays of film support structures. Each of the film support structures has a first side and a second side. Both sides of the film support structure are coated with flowing polymer. The vertical arrangement of components in the bundle assembly cause the polymeric melt to cascade down the vertical length of a reaction vessel interior that incorporates the bundle assembly. The present invention also provides a polymerization reactor that incorporates the assembly of the invention and a method of increasing the degree of polymerization of a polymer melt by using the assembly of the invention.

L'invention concerne un ensemble faisceau conçu pour des réacteurs de polymérisation verticaux à écoulement par gravité servant à générer des films polymères minces à viscosité et rendement élevés. Cet ensemble faisceau comprend des composants internes statiques qui comportent de grandes surfaces de liquide libres lesquelles sont en contact avec l'atmosphère du réacteur, les temps de rétention de liquide étant néanmoins suffisants pour permettre le déroulement de la polymérisation. L'ensemble faisceau comprend également un ou plusieurs générateurs de film stationnaires, ainsi qu'un ou plusieurs réseaux stationnaires de structures de support de film. Chaque structure de support de fil comporte un premier côté et un deuxième côté. Les deux côtés de la structure de support de film sont revêtus d'un polymère fluide. La masse polymère fondue descend en cascade le long de l'intérieur d'une cuve à réaction comportant un ensemble faisceau, en raison de l'agencement vertical des composants de l'ensemble faisceau. Cette invention concerne en outre un réacteur de polymérisation comportant un ensemble faisceau selon l'invention, ainsi qu'un procédé pour accroître le degré de polymérisation d'une masse polymère fondue au moyen de l'ensemble selon l'invention.
