A bottom forming apparatus having a mandrel cap and a sealing plate configured to create a carton with an elevated bottom. The present invention alleviates the problem of cartons having soggy bottoms since the point of absorption, the raw paperboard edge, is elevated above the moisture which may be present during distribution from the packaging machine to the retailer. The elevated bottom portion is actually inverted into the carton with planar portions resting on the surface to support the carton. The sealing plate has a multitude of elevated portions and the mandrel cap has a recess and an angled edge for elevating the raw paperboard edge. The various embodiments of the sealing plate are able to elevate most carton bottom configurations including the standard TETRA REX® carton and the TETRA REX® sixth panel with skived edge carton.
La présente invention concerne un appareil de formage de fond constitué par une forme mandrin et par une plaque de destinées à la fabrication de cartons à fond surélevé. Cette invention est de nature à permettre de réduire le problème posé par des cartons dont le fond est mouillé dans la mesure où le point d'absorption se trouve surélevé par rapport à la zone humide avec laquelle le carton peut être en contact au cours du processus de distribution entre la machine d'emballage et le point de vente au détail. La partie surélevée est en fait repoussée dans le carton, ce dernier reposant sur la surface portante par des parties planes. La plaque de scellement présente de multiples parties saillantes alors que la forme mandrin comporte un évidement et un bord oblique pour la surélévation du carton à l'état brut. Dans ses diverses réalisations, la plaque de scellement permet de surélever le fond de la plupart des configurations de cartons, y compris le modèle standard TETRA REX3 et le modèle TETRA REX3 à six panneaux en carton à bord biseauté.
