A froth flotation method and apparatus for extracting a valuable substance from a slurry comprising a mix-ture of solid phase, liquid phase and said substance. A gas dispersing mechanism (4) feeds gas into the slurry (1) in a flotation vessel (2) to infuse gas bubbles into the slurry. The slurry is agitated in the flotation vessel (2) for dispersing the gas bubbles into the slurry. The gas bubbles capture the valuable substance from the slurry and forma froth phase F above the slurry phase S. The froth phase F exits the vessel by overflow. Continuously moving negative pressure zones (7) are mechanically generated by rake blades (9) in the froth phase (F). The negative pressure zones (7) extend from the froth phase (F) to the slurry phase (S). The negative pressure zones (7) capture unwanted slurry and liquid pockets (8) entrained from the slurry phase to the froth phase (F) and form paths for guiding said unwanted slurry and liquid pockets (8) via said paths from the froth phase (F) downwardly back to the slurry phase(S).

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant lextraction dune substance précieuse à partir dune suspension comprenant un mélange de phase solide, de phase liquide et de ladite substance. Un mécanisme de dispersion de gaz (4) alimente du gaz dans la suspension (1) dans une cuve de flottation (2) pour injecter des bulles de gaz dans la suspension. La suspension est agitée dans la cuve de flottation (2) pour disperser les bulles de gaz dans la suspension. Les bulles de gaz capturent la substance précieuse depuis la suspension et forment une phase mousseuse F au-dessus de la phase de suspension S. La phase mousseuse F sort de la cuve par débordement. Des zones de pression négative se déplaçant en continu (7) sont générées mécaniquement par des lames de râteau (9) dans la phase mousseuse (F). Les zones de pression négative (7) sétendent depuis la phase mousseuse (F) jusquà la phase de suspension (S). Les zones de pression négative (7) capturent la suspension et les poches de liquides (8) indésirables entraînées depuis la suspension vers la phase mousseuse (F) et forment des chemins pour guider lesdites suspension et poches de liquide indésirables (8) via lesdits chemins depuis la phase mousseuse (F) vers le bas en retour jusquà la phase de suspension (S).
