The present invention relates generally to devices used to anchor, secure or stabilise earthen formations, such as the roof or side walls of an underground mine or tunnel. Devices of this type are usually referred to by many names including rock stabiliser, rock-bolt, roof-bolt, friction stabiliser or split- set bolt. The present invention relates particularly to a stabiliser structure that reduces known difficulties associated with such devices. Further, the present invention provides a cartridge and method of installation of stabilisers that reduces known difficulties associated with inserting filling material into stabilisers and installation of such filled devices.
