The invention relates to a hard-metal comprising at least 13 volume % of a metal carbide selected from the group consisting of TiC, VC, ZrC, NbC, MoC, HfC, TaCl WC or a combination thereof, a binder phase comprising one or more of iron--group metals or alloy thereof and 0.1 to 10 weight% Si and 0.1 to 10 weight% Cr and having a liquidus temperature at 1280 de-greesC or lower and 3 to 39 volume% of diamond or cBN grains coated with a protective coating or a mixture thereof and a process for making the hard- metal.
La présente invention concerne un métal dur comprenant au moins 13 % en volume dun carbure de métal choisi dans le groupe constitué de TiC, VC, ZrC, NbC, MoC, HfC, TaCl WC ou une combinaison de ceux-ci, une phase liante comprenant lun ou plusieurs des métaux du groupe du fer ou un alliage de ceux-ci et de 0,1 à 10 % en poids de Si et de 0,1 à 10 % en poids de Cr et ayant une température de liquidus de 1280 °C ou moins et de 3 à 39 % en volume de grains de diamant ou CBN enrobés avec un revêtement protecteur ou un mélange de ceux-ci et un procédé pour fabriquer le métal dur.
