Novel heat exchangers and methods of constructing the heat exchangers for use in indirect evaporative cooling applications. The evaporative apparatus for cooling comprises both a multi-stage indirect evaporative cooling heat exchanger (1074); and a multi-stage sump (1036) where each sump stage, in a one-to-one relationship. Other multi-stage heat exchangers with their associated multistage sumps can be combined, with the cooled air of a first multistage evaporative assembly feeding into the intake end of a second multistage evaporative assembly, and so on. These heat exchangers can be an entire assembly for the pre-cooling and cleaning of the air going to a gas turbine or any other air breathing device, with an air washer stage (1044) in which air is directly cooled by evaporation and where simultaneously the air is also cleaned of dust, dirt and other impurities.
L'invention concerne de nouveaux échangeurs thermiques et des procédés de fabrication correspondant utilisés dans des applications de refroidissement indirect par évaporation. L'appareil à évaporation de refroidissement comprend à la fois un échangeur thermique polyétagé de refroidissement indirect par évaporation (1074) et un bassin collecteur polyétagé (1036), où chaque bassin est en relation bijective. D'autres échangeurs thermiques polyétagés avec leur bassin collecteur correspondant peuvent être combinés, l'air refroidi d'un premier ensemble polyétagé à évaporation étant amené dans l'extrémité d'admission d'un second ensemble polyétagé à évaporation, et ainsi de suite. Ces échangeurs thermiques peuvent constituer un ensemble complet de prérefroidissement et de nettoyage de l'air se dirigeant vers une turbine à gaz ou tout autre type de dispositif aérobie, ledit ensemble étant pourvu d'un étage de lavage d'air (1044) au niveau duquel l'air est directement refroidi par évaporation et simultanément nettoyé de toute poussière, saleté et autre impureté.
