A hollow body blowing system comprises a frame, a tube extrusion device and die, and a closing unit comprising two opposing vertical closing plates, an upper horizontal closing plate secured at an upper region of the first vertical closing plate and carrying an upper mold half, and a lower horizontal closing plate, carrying a lower mold half, and secured to a supporting plate secured at a lower region of the second vertical closing plate. A carriage moves the closing unit in relation to the tube extrusion die, and moves the vertical closing plates towards each other. When the upper and lower mold halves are brought into opposing relationship, the upper horizontal closing plate interlocks with the second vertical closing plate, and the lower horizontal supporting plate interlocks with the first vertical closing plate. The system facilitates molding of hollow bodies of greater length or complexity than conventional vertical parting systems.
