A joint for use in aircraft construction, for example a wing (10) , comprises: a cover skin (200) having an interior surface, an exterior surface and a distal portion (205) , said distal portion (205) having an exterior- facing surface; and a butt-strap (100) having a first portion (100b) for connection to the skin, said first portion (100b) having an interior surface, an exterior surface and a distal end. The first portion (100b) of the butt-strap (100) is connected to the distal portion (205) of the skin (200) such that a junction is formed between the exterior surface of the skin (200) and the exterior surface of the first portion (100b) of the butt-strap (100) . The exterior- facing surface of the distal portion (205) of the skin (200) is of a shape complementary to the shape of the interior surface of the first portion (100b) of the butt- strap (100) . The first portion (100b) of the butt-strap (100) tapers towards its distal end such that, at said junction, the exterior surface of the skin (200) and the exterior surface of the first portion (100b) of the butt-strap (100) form a substantially continuous exterior surface.
Cette invention concerne un joint utilisé dans la construction d'aéronefs, par exemple dans la construction d'une aile (10). Le joint comprend: un revêtement de protection (200) comprenant une surface intérieure, une surface extérieure et une partie distale (205), la partie distale (205) présentant une surface orientée vers l'extérieur; et un couvre-joint (100) comprenant une première partie (100b) destinée à être fixée au revêtement, la première partie (100b) comprenant une surface intérieure, une surface extérieure et une extrémité distale. La première partie (100b) du couvre-joint (100) est fixée à la partie distale (205) du revêtement (200) de façon qu'un raccord soit formé entre la surface extérieure du revêtement (200) et la surface extérieure de la première partie (100b) du couvre-joint (100). La surface orientée vers l'extérieur de la partie distale (205) du revêtement (200) se présente sous une forme complémentaire à celle de la surface intérieure de la première partie (100b) du couvre-joint (100). La première partie (100b) du couvre-joint (100) s'amincit en direction de son extrémité distale de façon qu'au niveau du raccord, la surface extérieure du revêtement (200) et la surface extérieure de la première partie (100b) du couvre-joint (100) forment une surface extérieure substantiellement continue.
