A lock and key system is disclosed including locks of the kind comprising a cylindrical key plug (203) with locking tumblers (205) having a body part (206a) and an integral key sensing part (20.beta.b) for engagement with an associated key (100) . The key sensing part (206b) of each locking tumbler comprises at least two neighbouring key contacting portions (210a, 211a) being mutually displaced from each other longitudinally along the key plug axis and being confined within a limited region, for possible sliding engagement with a longitudinal code pattern of the associated key, at least one but not necessarily all of these key contacting portions of each locking tumbler actually engaging with a corresponding code portion of the associated key upon fully inserting the latter into the key slot of the lock.

La présente invention concerne un système de serrure et de clé incluant les serrures du type à barillet cylindrique (203) avec gorges de blocage (205) comprenant un corps (206a) et une pièce intégrée de détection de la clé (20bb) qui s~engage avec une clé associée (100). La pièce de détection de la clé (206b) de chaque gorge de blocage comporte au moins deux partis voisines de contact avec la clé (210a, 211a) déplacées mutuellement et réciproquement, longitudinalement le long de l~axe du barillet de la clé et confinées dans une zone limitée, pour un engagement possible en translation selon un modèle de code longitudinal de la clé associée, au moins une mais pas nécessairement toutes ces parties de contact avec la clé de chaque gorge de blocage s~engageant réellement dans une partie de code correspondante de la clé associée lors de l~insertion complète de cette dernière dans l~emplacement prévu pour la clé de la serrure.
