The present invention is directed to an optical fiber communications network having an exceptionally long terrestrial fiber optic link comprising a first LTE site (104) terminating an end of said exceptionally long fiber optic link; a second LTE site (106) terminating another end of said exceptionally long fiber optic link; a plurality of low-power optical line amplifiers (154-174) for amplifying the signal between said first LTE site and said second LTE site; and a plurality of opitcal fiber spans (130-152) coupled alternatingly in series with said plurality of low-power optical line amplifiers (LPLAs).
Cette invention a trait à un réseau de communications par fibres optiques possédant une liaison terrestre par fibres optiques exceptionnellement longue comprenant un premier site d'équipement d'extrémité de la ligne (LTE) (104) situé à une extrémité de cette liaison par fibres optiques exceptionnellement longue ainsi qu'un second site d'équipement d'extrémité de la ligne (LTE) (104) situé à l'autre extrémité de cette liaison par fibres optiques exceptionnellement longue. La liaison, qui est pourvue de plusieurs amplificateurs de ligne optique de faible puissance (154-174), servant à amplifier le signal entre les deux sites susmentionnés, est constitué de plusieurs tronçons de fibres optiques (130-152) reliés en série en alternance aux amplificateurs de ligne optique de faible puissance (LPLA).
