A gas-fired water heater is comprised of a vertical housing (11) having a circumferential side wall (12), a closed bottom end (13), and a flue (14) connected to a top end portion (15) thereof. A packing (17) of heat exchange elements (18) is supported inside the housing (11) in an uppermost region (19) thereof. A water discharge orifice or nozzle (21) is disposed above the packing (17) and connected to a water supply (22) for releasing water to be heated on the packing. An axial burner (23) is disposed substantially centrally with the housing under the packing (17). A feed pipe (24) is connected to the burner (23) and extends at least partly axially within the housing. A gas-air mixture is fed to the burner (23) through the feed pipe (24). An ignitor device (25) is provided to ignite the burner (23). The water is heated in the housing by contact with the packing (17) and an inner surface (12') of the housing (11) and in a space below the packing during the gravitational displacement of water droplets from the discharge orifice (21) to a collector chamber (31) below the burner.
L'invention porte sur un chauffe-eau à gaz comprenant une enveloppe verticale (11) ayant une paroi latérale cylindrique (12), un fond fermé (13) et une cheminée (14) reliée à l'extrémité supérieure (15) de l'enveloppe dont la partie supérieure (19) abrite un empilement (17) d'échangeurs thermiques (18). Un orifice destiné à la projection d'eau ou un injecteur (21) est situé au-dessus de cet empilement (17) et est relié à une alimentation en eau (22) afin de déverser l'eau à chauffer sur l'empilement. Un brûleur axial (23) se trouve pratiquement au centre de l'enveloppe, sous l'empilement (17). Une canalisation d'amenée (24), qui est reliée au brûleur (23), s'étend axialement, tout au moins en partie, à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe. Le brûleur (23), dont l'allumage est assuré par un allumeur (25), est alimenté par un mélange constitué de gaz et d'air, via la canalisation d'amenée (24). L'eau est chauffée dans l'enveloppe par contact avec l'empilement (17) et la face interne (12') de l'enveloppe, ainsi que dans un espace situé sous l'empilement au cours du déplacement par gravité des gouttelettes d'eau, depuis l'orifice destiné à la projection d'eau (21) jusqu'à une chambre de récupération (31) située sous le brûleur.
