A machine for continuously producing metal tubing or metal sheathing about a cable from flat metal strip is designed to produce a defect-free seam weld during stop and restart operations. The welder, weld closing rolls and seam guide are attached to a base plate slidably mounted on a supporting structure. The base plate is slowly displaced between an initial start up position and a final operating position which slightly downstream of the start up position. The base plate is returned upstream to the start up position when the machine is stopped for maintenance or to add a new supply of metal strip. Therefore, when the machine is restarted and advanced to the operating position, a continuous defect free weld is obtained.
Une machine de production en continu d'un tube métallique ou d'un gainage métallique d'un câble (97) à partir d'un feuillard métallique plat (10) est conçue pour produire une soudure continue sans défaut lors de l'arrêt et de la remise en route. La machine à souder (26), les cylindres de fermeture de la soudure (22) et le guide de soudage (30) sont fixés à plaque de base (24) montée coulissante sur une structure-support (16). La plaque de base se déplace lentement entre une position initiale de démarrage et une position finale de travail située légèrement en aval de la position de démarrage. La plaque de base revient en amont vers la position de démarrage lorsqu'on arrête la machine pour son entretien ou pour ajouter un nouveau feuillard métallique. Par conséquent, lorsqu'on remet la machine en route pour qu'elle avance vers la position de travail, on obtient une soudure continue sans défaut.
