A magnetic clamp (10) comprises a housing (12), the housing (12) defining abase (14) for resting on a work surface (11). An adjustable friction reducing arrangement (16) is associated with the base (14) of the housing (12). The friction reducing arrangement (16) is movable relative to the base 14 between a first position in which the friction reducing arrangement (16) reduces an area of contact between the base (14) of the housing (12) and the work surface (11) and a second position in which the area of contact between the base (14) of the housing (12) and the work surface (11) is increased.
