A medical apparatus with improvements in functionality and ergonomics, useful for beneficial light therapy practices such as color light acupuncture, color therapy or frequency therapy. A beneficial light radiation is produced by an extremely high brightness light emitting diode (LED) which is housed in a compact, lightweight, low profile light radiation module with enhanced ergonomics. The light radiation module is hermetically sealed to allow full immersion in sterilising and cleaning solutions. The medical apparatus includes a controller apparatus which facilitates the operation of singular or multiple light radiation modules. The controller apparatus facilitates the selection of uniform or distinct peak light intensities, pulse frequencies and duty cycles including predefined bio-frequencies. An apparatus and method is included to secure said light radiation modules to a patient, facilitating a hands free treatment.
