The present invention relates to a method and a system of energy recovery and/or cooling in at least one electrolysis cells (1) for the production of a metal, in particular aluminium, where the cell(s) is provided with one or more heat exchangers and where a heat exchange medium circulates through said heat exchanger(s) and is further directed to at least one heat conversion unit, such as an open circuit expander turbine (3). The expander turbine is connected with a compressor (2) that supplies the heat exchange medium to the cells (1, 51). In one embodiment, a second expander turbine (40) is connected to a generator (41) that can be applied for production of electricity. The system is substantially self propelled and the heat exchange medium is preferably air applied in an open circuit.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un système de récupération d'énergie et/ou de refroidissement dans au moins une cellule d'électrolyse (1) pour la production d'un métal, en particulier de l'aluminium, où la ou les cellules sont munies d'un ou plusieurs échangeurs thermiques et où un milieu d'échange thermique circule à travers ledit (lesdits) échangeur(s) thermique(s) avant d'être dirigé vers au moins une unité de conversion thermique, comme une turbine d'expansion en circuit ouvert (3). La turbine d'expansion est connectée à un compresseur (2) acheminant le milieu d'échange thermique aux cellules (1, 51). Dans un mode de réalisation, une seconde turbine d'expansion (40) est connectée à un générateur (41) susceptible de servir à la production d'électricité. Le système est sensiblement à propulsion automatique et le milieu d'échange thermique est de préférence de l'air appliqué dans un circuit ouvert.
