For manufacturing books having different sizes and comprising a plurality of text pages constituting a book block, a web of material having a given width is sequentially printed in a digital printing station. The printed web of material is then provided either with one weakening line extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the web of material or with two weakening lines arranged spaced apart and extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the web of material. Thereafter the printed web of material is transversely cut to produce individual text sheets which are provided with either one weakening line or two weakening lines. These text sheets are then longitudinally folded along the either one weakening line or in sequence along each of the two weakening lines. The folded text sheets belonging to a particular book block are stacked to a stack. The stacks are either temporarily stored for a later binding process or directly supplied to a binding station.
Pour fabriquer des livres de différentes tailles comprenant une pluralité de pages de texte constituant un corps d'ouvrage, une bande de matériau d'une largeur donnée est séquentiellement imprimée dans une station d'impression numérique. La bande de matériau ainsi imprimée est ensuite dotée soit d'une ligne d'affaiblissement s'étendant parallèlement à la direction longitudinale de la bande de matériau, soit de deux lignes d'affaiblissement espacées l'une par rapport à l'autre et s'étendant parallèlement à la direction longitudinale de la bande de matériau. La bande de matériau imprimée est ensuite coupée transversalement afin de produire des feuilles de texte individuelles qui sont dotées d'une ou de deux lignes d'affaiblissement. Ces feuilles de texte sont ensuite pliées longitudinalement le long d'une des deux lignes d'affaiblissement ou en séquence le long de chacune des deux lignes d'affaiblissement. Les feuilles de texte ainsi pliées appartenant à un corps d'ouvrage particulier sont empilées de façon à former une pile. Les piles sont soit provisoirement stockées pour un processus de reliure ultérieur, soit directement fournies à une station de reliure.
