An improved apparatus and a method is provided for covering an emergency "911" address post. The post cover is a one piece extruded vinyl tube that contains a slot at one end to receive the number plate attached to a metal post for the purpose of identifying an address. The top of the tube is preferably closed by means of a decorative cap.
