In the manufacture of packaging containers, for example blown plastic bottles, a circular material blank is, in certain cases, fixedly welded to the end of a sleeve-shaped casing portion. It is advantageous from amongst other energy viewpoint if the welding can take place using ultrasound, but in this instance it has been proved that the central region to the circular blank absorbs ultrasonic energy to such an extent that it is deformed or breaks. A method of using ultrasound to fixedly weld a circular material blank (13) without such drawbacks occurring is proposed according to the present invention in that the oscillations caused by the ultrasound are reduced by a mechanical stabilisation of the central region of the circular blank (13), which is put into effect with the aid of a vacuum and a relief pattern (18) provided in the central region of the circular blank. An apparatus for employing ultrasound to fixedly weld a circular material blank (13) in place displays a counter abutment (12) with a work surface for fixedly retaining the circular material blank, the work surface forming a part of a vacuum chamber, and support means for the central region of the circular blank during the welding cycle.
Dans la fabrication des contenants de conditionnement, par exemple des bouteilles plastique obtenues par soufflage, une ébauche circulaire est, dans certains cas, soudée à demeure à l'extrémité d'une partie en forme de manchon. En l'occurrence, il s'avère que la zone centrale de l'ébauche circulaire absorbe l'énergie des ultrasons dans une telle mesure qu'elle se déforme ou se rompt. La présente invention concerne un procédé d'utilisation des ultrasons pour souder à demeure une ébauche circulaire (13) sans se heurter aux inconvénients précités. Les oscillations résultants des ultrasons sont atténuées par une stabilisation mécanique de la zone centrale de l'ébauche (13), cette stabilisation étant réalisée à l'aide d'un vide et d'un motif en relief (18) produit dans la partie centrale de l'ébauche circulaire. Le dispositif d'utilisation d'ultrasons pour souder à demeure l'ébauche circulaire (13) en place comporte une butée antagoniste (12) par rapport à la surface de travail qui maintient l'ébauche circulaire, la surface de travail faisant partie intégrante d'une chambre à vide, et un dispositif de maintien de la région centrale de l'ébauche circulaire au cours du cycle de soudage.
