A method and arrangement enabling a mobile station (MS1), operating in standby mode and monitoring a control channel (CC1) in a first radio communication network (NET1), to scan for other radio channels (CC4-CC6) without missing messages, e.g. page messages, on the control channel (CC1) intended for the mobile station (MS1). Each message comprises at least one repeated block of information bits. Upon receipt of a message on the monitored control channel (CC1), the mobile station (MS1) dynamically determines a time period during which the blocks of information conveying the message contains no new information intended for the mobile station (MS1). At least part of said time period is then used for scanning of other radio channels (CC4-CC6).
Procédé et installation permettant à une station mobile (MS1), fonctionnant en mode "attente" et surveillant un canal de commande (CC1) dans un premier réseau de télécommunication (NET1), d'explorer d'autres canaux radio (CC4-CC6) sans rater les messages, p. ex. des messages de recherche de personne arrivant par le canal de commande (CC1) attribué à la station mobile (MS1). Chaque message comprend au moins un bloc de bits d'information. Lors de la réception d'un message sur le canal de commande surveillé (CC1), la station mobile (MS1) détermine de façon dynamique un temps pendant lequel les blocs d'information transportant le message ne contiennent pas d'information nouvelle destinée à la station mobile (MS1). Une partie au moins de ce temps est ensuite utilisé pour explorer d'autres canaux radio (CC4-CC6).
