In a network including access points (1, 2, 3), via which communication units can connect to the network, wherein each of the access points (1, 2, 3) belongs to a zone (A, B, C), a method comprising the steps of assigning a message type (a, b, c) to each of the zones (A, B, C) in the network; receiving from the communication unit a query message (mqa, mqb, mqc) for each zone (A, B, C), where the query message for each zone is of the message type assigned to that zone; filtering the query messages at an access point, via which the communication unit is connected to the network, so that only the query message (mqa) of the message type (a), which is assigned to the zone (A) to which the access point belongs, is allowed to pass through; and determining the zone (A), to which the access point belongs, depending on the query message (mqa) allowed to pass through in the step of filtering.

L'invention concerne un réseau comprenant des points d'accès (1, 2, 3) qui permettent à des unités de communication de se connecter au réseau, chaque point d'accès (1, 2, 3) appartenant à une zone (A, B, C).
