A method of analysing a sample of biological material including components (2a to 2d) tagged with respective fluorescent labels (4a to 4d), comprises the steps of identifying a specific labelled component (2d) to be monitored, and irradiating with an energy beam at least one region (8) of the sample which substantially surrounds said specific component. The energy beam modifies the optical properties of labels in the region (8) such that they are distinguishable from the label (4d) associated with said specific component (2d). This assists the tracking of a specific component of interest as it moves through a sample. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.
L'invention concerne un procédé d~analyse d~un échantillon de matériau organique comprenant des composants (2a à 2d) étiquetés avec des étiquettes fluorescentes respectives (4a à 4d), comprenant les étapes d~identification d~un composant étiqueté spécifique (2d) à contrôler, et d~irradiation avec un faisceau d~énergie d~au moins une région (8) de l~échantillon qui entoure en grande partie ledit composant spécifique. Le faisceau d~énergie modifie les propriétés optiques des étiquettes dans la région (8) de telle sorte qu~elles sont différentiables de l~étiquette (4d) associée audit composant spécifique (2d). Ceci aide le suivi d~un composant spécifique digne d~intérêt alors qu~il se déplace dans l~échantillon. L'invention concerne également un appareil pour réaliser le procédé.
