In a TDMA/TDD communication system and method, communication throughput is increased by allowing direct duplex communication between the mobile stations that are within close proximity of each other. The system and method determine the range of the mobile stations from each other. Based on the range, the communication units may communicate with each other in one of either direct mode or indirect mode. If an in-range condition is determined, the mobile stations engage in direct duplex communication with each other. Otherwise, they communicate with each other in the indirect mode.
Dans un système et selon un procédé de communication AMRT/DRT, le débit est augmenté par instauration d'un mode de communication duplex directe entre les stations mobiles situées à proximité immédiate les unes des autres. Ce système et ce procédé déterminent la portée entre les stations mobiles. En fonction de cette portée, les stations mobiles peuvent communiquer entre elles en mode direct ou indirect. Les unités de communication se trouvant dans les limites de cette portée peuvent communiquer entre elles en mode direct, les autres communiquent en mode indirect.
