A method and apparatus for flood irrigation using a pump (14) to transfer water (28) from a water collection area (32) to a flood plain (31) containing potted plants (27) and using gravity to return the water to the water collection area (11) after a resident time in the flood plain (31). A single pipe (40) functions as the conduit for the flow of water in both directions. The flood plain (31) and water collection area (32) may be lined with a water impervious material (33) to conserve the water (28) and to protect the ground water. A plurality of flood plains may be formed by positioning inflatable dikes (34) along the flood plains. An inflatable valve (36) positioned by a controller may be associated with each opening to permit the flooding of only selected ones of the flood plains.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil d'irrigation par submersion au moyen d'une pompe (14) pour le transfert de l'eau (28) d'une zone de recueil d'eau (32) à un champ d'inondation (31) contenant des plantes en pot (27), la gravité étant utilisée pour renvoyer l'eau dans la zone de recueil d'eau (11) après un certain temps de résidence dans ledit champ (31). Un seul tuyau (40) permet l'écoulement du flux d'eau dans les deux sens. Le champ d'inondation (31) et la zone de recueil d'eau (32) peuvent être doublés d'un matériau imperméable à l'eau (33) permettant la conservation de l'eau (28) et la protection de l'eau souterraine. Plusieurs champs d'inondation peuvent être formés par le placement de digues gonflables (34) le long de champs d'inondation.
