The present invention discloses a communication system including a communications network, a multiplicity of communications terminals which are connectable to the communications network and which can be employed by users to communicate via the communications network, the user not necessarily being identified with a given communications terminal; apparatus for monitoring whether or not a user is connected to the communications network irrespective of which of the multiplicity of communications terminals that user is employing, and apparatus for annunciating to a seeking user, currently connected to the communications network via any of the multiplicity of communications terminals, network connection status information relating to other users who are in a set of sought users, which set is definable by the seeking user, and for providing the seeking user connection address information relating to those sought users who are currently connected to the communications network.
L'invention concerne un système de communication comprenant un réseau de télécommunications, une multiplicité de terminaux de télécommunications pouvant être reliés à ce réseau et employés par des utilisateurs, aux fins de communication via ledit réseau, un utilisateur n'étant pas nécessairement identifié par un terminal donné, un dispositif de surveillance servant à établir si un utilisateur est oui ou non relié au réseau de télécommunications, quelque soit le nombre de terminaux employés par cet utilisateur, ainsi qu'un dispositif servant à faire part à un utilisateur demandeur, relié actuellement au réseau de télécommunication via l'un quelconque de ses nombreux terminaux, d'informations sur l'état de connexion au réseau, concernant d'autres utilisateurs, lesquels font partie d'un ensemble d'utilisateurs recherchés, cet ensemble pouvant être défini par l'utilisateur demandeur, et à fournir à l'utilisateur demandeur des informations d'adresses de connexion concernant ceux des utilisateurs recherchés actuellement reliés au réseau de télécommunications.
