A method of detecting defects using eddy currents is disclosed. The method comprises: exciting eddy currents in a test material using an eddy current probe driven by a drive signal; detecting induced eddy currents in the test material; converting the detected signal into integer values using an analog to digital converter; and adding or subtracting the generated integer values to or from each of two accumulators, or taking no action, so that one accumulator produces a value proportional to one component of the detected signal and the other produces a value proportional to another component of the detected signal and using these val-ues to detect the presence of a defect.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de détection de défaillance à laide des courants de Foucault. Le procédé comprend : l'excitation des courants de Foucault dans un matériau de test à laide dune sonde à courant de Foucault actionnée par un signal d'attaque; la détection des courants de Foucault induits dans le matériau de test; la conversion du signal détecté en des valeurs entières à laide dun convertisseur analogique-numérique; et l'addition ou la soustraction des valeurs entières générées vers ou depuis chacun de deux accumulateurs, ou bien l'absence d'action, de telle sorte qu'un accumulateur produit une valeur proportionnelle à une composante du signal détecté et que l'autre produit accumulateur une valeur proportionnelle à une autre composante du signal détecté, et lutilisation de ces valeurs permettra de détecter la présence dune défaillance.
