A method and apparatus for producing a roll or log of bathroom tissue or kitchen toweling with a pattern being repeated between each pair of transverse perforations wherein an extensible web having a pattern thereon repeated at equally longitudinally spaced position is advanced along a path toward a rewinder having a knife-equipped perforator and a cutoff mechanism. A detector senses the position of each pattern and also sensed is the position of the perforation knife with the positions being reported to a controller. The perforation knife is adjusted to insure that each perforation is between pattern positions and the cutoff mechanism is adjusted to stay in time with the transverse lines of perforations to provide a selected count of patterns in each winding cycle.
Méthode et appareil pour produire un rouleau de papier hygiénique ou d'essuie-tout avec un motif répété entre les lignes transversales de perforation successives, une feuille continue extensible avec un motif répété à intervalles réguliers sur sa longueur étant véhiculée le long d'un parcours vers une enrouleuse qui a un perforateur équipé d'un couteau et un mécanisme de rupture. Un détecteur capte la position de chaque motif et la position du couteau de perforation, les positions étant transmises à un appareil de commande. Le couteau de perforation est réglé de manière que chaque ligne de perforation tombe entre les positions des motifs et le mécanisme de rupture est réglé de manière à rester en mesure avec les lignes transversales de perforation pour qu'on obtienne un nombre choisi de motifs dans chaque cycle d'enroulement.
