A method and apparatus for communicating a desired target signal along a piping structure is provided. Because of the lossy communication path presented by the piping structure, an input signal, which is transmitted from a first location on the piping structure, is consciously predistorted prior to transmission. The amount and nature of the predistortion applied to the input signal is determined by mathematically modeling the communication path between the first location and a second location. Predistortion of the input signal results in reception of an output signal at the second location that closely approximates the desired target signal. Application of this predistortion method of communicating is described in the context of communicating in the borehole of a petroleum well. Image
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de communiquer un signal cible souhaité le long d'une structure de canalisation. En raison de la voie de communication avec pertes de la structure de canalisation, un signal d'entrée, qui est transmis d'un premier emplacement sur ladite structure, est volontairement prédistordu avant la transmission. L'amplitude et la nature de la prédistortion appliquée au signal d'entrée sont déterminées par conception mathématique de la voie de communication entre le premier emplacement et un second emplacement. La prédistortion du signal d'entrée débouche sur la réception d'un signal de sortie au second emplacement qui s'approche étroitement du signal cible souhaité. L'application de ce procédé de prédistortion en matière de communication est décrite dans le contexte de communication dans un trou de forage d'un puits de pétrole.
