This invention is an apparatus and method to enable minimally invasive transdermal measurements of the fluorescence lifetime of an implanted element (6) without reagent consumption, and not requiring painful blood sampling. The monitoring apparatus (32) displays the quantity of a selected substance present in the skin and stores the data in memory (36). The stored information can be transmitted via modem, or antenna, to a master station for diagnostic purposes of clinical evaluation. The use of this method and apparatus improves control of blood monitoring, and therefore, enhances long-term disease management with fewer complications.
Cette invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant d'effectuer des mesures transdermiques avec une invasion minimale afin de mesurer la durée de fluorescence d'un élément implanté (6), et ceci sans faire appel à un réactif et sans avoir recours à un prélèvement de sang douloureux. L'appareil de contrôle (32) affiche la quantité d'une substance choisie présente dans la peau et enregistre les données dans une mémoire (36). Les informations enregistrées peuvent être transmises par modem ou par antenne à une station maître à des fins diagnostiques d'évaluation clinique. Le recours à ce procédé et à cet appareil permet d'améliorer la gestion du contrôle sanguin, et, donc, le suivi à long terme de maladies tout en entraînant moins de complications.
