The present invention provides a method and composition for inhibiting biological fouling in an irrigation system. According to the invention, an effective amount of active zinc is added to irrigation water passing through an irrigation system to inhibit biological fouling. In a preferred form of the invention, the active zinc is chelated with 1-hydroxyethane 1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDPA). In addition to inhibiting the formation of biological fouling in the system, the active zinc provides nourishment to plants irrigated by the irrigation system.
La présente invention concerne un procédé ainsi qu'une composition permettant d'inhiber l'encrassement biologique dans un système d'irrigation. Selon cette invention, une quantité suffisante pour être efficace de zinc actif est ajoutée à l'eau d'irrigation passant à travers ledit système d'irrigation afin d'empêcher l'encrassement biologique. Dans une mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, le zinc actif est chélaté à l'aide d'acide 1-hydroxyéthane 1,1-diphosphonique (HEDPA). Le zinc actif sert à empêcher la formation d'encrassements biologiques à l'intérieur dudit système, mais sert également d'élément nutritif pour les plantes irriguées à l'aide dudit système d'irrigation.
