The present application concerns a method and equipment for producing and maintaining a gas mixture in one or more phases (1, 2, 3) together with the use of the equipment for stunning poultry. The phases can be represented by zones (2, 3, 4) in equipment such as a stunning tunnel (1) or other suitable equipment. The gas mixture includes carbon dioxide gas (CO2) and oxygen (O2) and possibly some air, and the concentration of oxygen is kept at a level equivalent to the concentration of oxygen in naturally occurring air or lower. Carbon dioxide gas is added as a function of the carbon dioxide concentration measured in the gas from the zone(s). Oxygen is added as a function of the quantity of carbon dioxide added, or added as a function of concentration measured in the gas from the zone(s).
La présente invention concerne un procédé et une installation permettant de produire et d'entretenir un mélange gazeux en au moins une phase (1, 2, 3) tout en faisant usage d'un système d'étourdissement de la volaille. Ces phases peuvent correspondre à des zones (2, 3, 4) de l'installation, notamment à un tunnel d'étourdissement (1), mais aussi à toute autre installation appropriée. Le mélange gazeux contient du dioxyde de carbone gazeux (CO2), de l'oxygène (O2), et éventuellement un peu d'air. La teneur en oxygène est maintenue à un niveau équivalent ou inférieur à ce qu'elle est naturellement dans l'air. On ajoute du dioxyde de carbone gazeux en fonction de la teneur mesurée du mélange gazeux en dioxyde de carbone dans les zones considérées. On ajoute aussi de l'oxygène à raison de la quantité de dioxyde de carbone ajouté, ou à raison de la teneur mesurée dans le gaz provenant des zones considérées.
