A method for downloading content to a target device. Content and target device selection is initiated by a set-top-box. When the selection is approved by the content provider, the target device receives a message indicating that a selected content is ready for download. A user interface is generated, displaying the message and allowing the user to accept/refuse the download, download at a subsequent time, authorize a specific subscriber to upload content to the target device without authorization, refuse to download content from a specific subscriber, or download to the target device by explicit authorization only. As a result, a television-centric experience is provided while eliminating the need to transfer the downloaded content from the target device to another electronic device. Moreover, content selection is initiated by a device other than the target device while providing the target device with flexibility to initiate the download when the downloadable content is ready.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné au téléchargement vers l'aval de contenus vers un dispositif cible. Les contenus et le dispositif cible sont sélectionnés à partir d'une boîte numérique. Lorsqu'une sélection est acceptée par le fournisseur de contenu, le dispositif cible reçoit un message indiquant qu'un contenu sélectionné est prêt pour le téléchargement vers l'aval. Une interface utilisateur est produite, affichant le message, permettant à l'utilisateur d'accepter/refuser le téléchargement vers l'aval, d'effectuer le téléchargement vers l'aval ultérieurement, d'autoriser un abonné spécifique à télécharger vers l'amont le contenu vers le dispositif cible sans autorisation, de refuser le téléchargement vers l'aval d'un contenu à un abonné spécifique, ou de télécharger vers l'aval vers le dispositif cible sur la base d'une autorisation explicite uniquement. Ce procédé permet ainsi d'obtenir une expérience centrée sur la télévision, grâce à laquelle il n'est pas nécessaire de transférer le contenu téléchargé vers l'aval entre le dispositif cible et un autre dispositif électronique. En outre, la sélection du contenu est lancée par un dispositif autre que le dispositif cible, le dispositif cible pouvant librement lancer le téléchargement vers l'aval lorsque le contenu à télécharger vers l'aval est prêt.
