In a method and system for monitoring a control channel in a telecommunication system, the transmission of the overhead parameters is separated from the transmission of the packets that are directed to an access terminal. Consequently, the access terminal may need to monitor a control channel for a shorter period of time if a current message indicates that the received set of overhead parameters is up to date. In this case, the access terminal with up- to-date overhead parameters may stop monitoring the control channel before the end of a synchronous capsule time period. Otherwise, the access terminal may continue to monitor the control channel until an up-to-date set of overhead parameters is received.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un système de surveillance d'une voie de signalisation dans un système de télécommunications, selon lesquels la transmission des paramètres aériens est séparée de la transmission des paquets qui sont acheminés à un terminal d'accès. De ce fait, le terminal d'accès peut recourir à la surveillance d'une voie de signalisation pendant un intervalle de temps plus court si un message en cours indique que l'ensemble reçu de paramètres aériens est à jour. Sinon, le terminal d'accès peut poursuivre la surveillance de la voie de signalisation jusqu'à ce qu'un ensemble de paramètres aériens à jour soit reçu.
