An approach for processing voice calls over a packet switched network (105) as to efficiently utilize the functionalities of a Voice Response Unit (VRU) (113). According to one embodiment, a call originator (101), acting as a User Agent Client in accordance with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), issues messages to establish a first call-leg with the VRU (113). The VRU (113) performs digit collection to obtain information to authenticate the call originator (101) and to authorize the voice call. Based upon the issued messages from the call originator, the VRU establishes a second call-leg with the call terminator. The VRU is released from the voice call after binding the call-legs to connect the call originator to the call terminator (103).
La présente invention concerne une approche pour le traitement des appels vocaux via un réseau à commutation de paquets (105) de façon à utiliser au mieux les fonctionnalités d'une unité de réponse vocale (113). Selon l'un des modes de réalisation, un agent origine d'appel (101), intervenant comme client d'agent d'utilisateur par rapport au protocole de lancement de session (SIP) produit des messages pour établir une première branche de l'appel avec l'unité de réponse vocale (113). En recueillant des chiffres, l'unité de réponse vocale (113) cherche à recueillir de l'information permettant d'authentifier l'agent origine de l'appel et pour autoriser l'appel vocal. Se basant sur les messages produits en provenance de l'agent origine d'appel (101), l'unité de réponse vocale établit un second embranchement d'appel avec l'agent terminaison d'appel. L'unité d'appel vocal se dégage de l'appel vocal après avoir relié les embranchements de l'appel de façon à connecter à l'agent terminaison (103) d'appel l'agent origine d'appel.
